MANOR OF MARSDEN To whit the Court Leet of our Sovereign LORD THE King with the Court Baron of William Radcliffe Esquire, Lord of the said Manor held at Marsden aforesaid in and for the said Manor on Monday the sixth day of April on the thirty fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five Before James Crosland Gentleman steward there.
AT THIS COURT it was found by the homage upon their oaths that Joseph Campinott late of Lingards Wood in Marsden in the Parish of Almondbury and County of York clothier deceased having heretofore, to wit, by a surrender courted the Day and year abovewritten surrendered into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor according to the custom thereof All his customary or copyhold messuages, cottages, Lands, Woods, Woody Ground, Tenements and Heridataments whatsoever situate and being within or pared of the said Manor. To and for such uses intents and purposes as should he thereof expressed limited and appointed in and by his last will and testament Did in and by his last will and testament leasing date the twenty third day of November last Give and Devise unto his son in law Sammy France All that new erected dwelling house or tenement therein his holding situate and being in Lingards Wood aforesaid. And also a Turfeote adjoining thereto. To hold him and heirs and assigns forever. Which said premises being of the yearly rent to the Lord of the said Manor of Marsden (?) six pence are granted from the said Lord by his Steward to the said Sammy France To Hold to himself and his heirs and assigns forever.And he hath given to the Lord for a fine of admittance six pence and thereupon admitted a tenant.

And also a chamber over the said Turfcote given to his son in law Sammy France (which chamber was then used as a twining shop and which together with the said last mentioned messuage or tenement and outhousing was in his own occupation) And also all the Closes, Lands and Grounds then also occupied by him with the appurtenances to the same belonging or appertaining to and also all the rest residue and remainder of his Copyhold Estate situate and being within or Parcel of the said Manor of Marsden to hold to his said son James Campinott his heirs and assigns forever subject nevertheless to and chargeable with the payment of the sum of Thirty Pounds then due and owing from him (the said testator) to George Roberts on a Promisary note, together with all interest due on the same and also with the Payment of the sum of Forty Pounds to the Testator's son in law Joseph France at the end of twelve months next atter his decease which said Premises abovementioned to be devised to the said James Campinott are of the yearly rent to the Lord of the said Manor of four shillings eleven pence Parcel of the original yearly rent of 6s 5d Payable for the same together with other tenements and premises situate at Lingards Wood aforesaid devised by the said Joseph Campinott deceased to Hannah his wife for life and are granted from the said Lord for a fine of admission and hath done his fealty and is therefore admitted Tenant.

From Deeds to Badgergate Farm, 12 May 1849
12 May, 1849.
Receipts for legacies of 10 pounds each bequeathed by James Campinot to each of his daughters, Hannah, Mary, Betty, Sally, Martha and Alice.
There was then due and owing to Joseph Firth the sum of 400 pounds pence. And that Joseph Campinot had agreed to make such surrender for better securing said sum of 400 pounds to Joseph Firth.
In consideration of the said sum of 400 pounds so due and owing from the estate of said Joseph Campinot to Joseph Firth Joseph Campinot and Margaret his wife she being solely confessed and examined by Frederick Robert Jones the younger Steward of the said courts freely and voluntarily consenting thereto Did surrender and give up with a straw unto the hands of the Lord of the Manor All that messuage, dwelling house or tenement barn mistal and other outhousing with the appurts situate in Marsden. And also a certain chamber over the said dwelling house which chamber was formerly used as a twining shop and which together with the last mentioned messuage or tenement was formerly in the occupation of Joseph Campinot deceased aRerwards of James Campinot deceased but then of sd Joseph Campinot first mentioned. And also all the land about 8 acres which were in the occupation of Joseph Campinot together with all the houses etc. All which said premises within the Manor of Marsden and of the yearly rent to the Lord of the Manor of 4/1 ld
And all that estate to the only proper use and behoof sd Joseph Firth his heirs and assigns for ever.
But upon trust that Joseph Firth his heirs execs or admins should enter into ?rect of the rents and profits thereof and therefore retain and payto himself and themselves 16 pounds per annum as interest on the said sum of400 pounds at 4 pounds per cent per annum for the term often years from the date of said surrender and should pay the residue of such rents, issues and profits unto sd. Joseph Campinot first named his exors and admors yearly.
Usual trusts for sale after the expiration of such 10 years and after 6 months notice of intention to sell and default in payment pursuant to such notice.
And upon trast that in case sd Joseph Campinot his execx admors or assigns should within such 6 months after the delivering or leaving of such notice aforesaid pay unto said Joseph Firth his execs or admors said principal sum of 400 pounds with all interest which might be then due thereon then that sd Joseph Firth his heirs and assigns should be forthwith upon such payment surrender such heredities into the hands of the Lord of the Manor. To the use ofsd Joseph Campinot (first named) his heirs and assigns forever.
And he gave to the Lord of the Manor for a fine of adrnittance and was thereupon admitted tenant his fealty being respited.

5t June,1854, Will so dated ofsd Joseph Firth (therein described as of Staleybridge in the County of Chester, Yeoman)
Whereby he appointed his son David Firth and his son in law William Mayman exors and trustees of his will. And atter disposing of his household furniture and effects in manner therein mentioned he devised all the real estate to which he should be entitled at his decease except estates vested in him as trustee or mortgagee and he bequeathed the residue of the personal estate to which he should be then entitled to said David Firth and William Mayman their heirs exors admors and assigns respectively upon trust to sell his real estate and to invest the monies arising thereIom in manner herein mentioned
