Marsden Past
Exhibition May 30th to June 1st 2008
Following the success of the exhibition of Marsden village history staged in June 2006 a new an exciting exhibition is planned for the May Bank Holiday.
Marsden History Group bases the exhibition on original research under the guidance of Alan Petford, Tutor. Visitors can follow the changing landscape through the use of maps from Jeffrey's map of 1771 to the present day
The displays tells the story of Marsden’s Manorial Court, with examples of some 17th century Wills and Inventories, and you can try your hand at transcribing an old will.
The exhibition contains stories of what it was like to live in the village through the use of oral histories, pastimes, leisure activities, the history of the park and contains many fascinating images, newspaper articles, photographs and old documents and include some of the items gathered together by Marsden History Group to form the Marsden Photographic Archive.
